Social or Cultural Issues of Spain There are social insurance systems in Spain to help the less fortunate citizens and help them get through their difficult situations by trying to avoid them into getting into financial and social problems. It provides pensions for employees in industry and services and also a system for the self-employed workers, such as farmers. The Social Development System helps with adoption, maternity, fathers also having parent leave, governmental subsidies, health and maternity benefits and also orphan pensions and retirement at the age of 65, and only at some certain conditions 64 years of age. This helps the community a lot as it guides them through the right path and helps them through, probably, the toughest part in a less fortunates position.
Some of the social problems in Spain are: AIDS, alcoholism, corruption, currency, ecology, ethnic cleansing, handicapped & mentally ill, hunger, needy, mal-nutrition, pension plans, poor & poverty, prostitution, racism, refugees, retirement programs, social security and unemployment.
In this above photo, it shows that people around the world are trying to get through to the government and are trying to tell them that these things such as, 'Stem Cell Research', 'Abortion', 'Gay Rights', 'Immigration' and 'Gun Control' should not have laws against them and if there should be any laws they should not be so strict that if something tragic happens, they will not get into so much trouble with the police and the government agencies. All these citizens are trying to do, is gain their rights back, when it has been taken away from them because the government thought that it was wrong according only to them, and not to the people of the country they are running, in this example, Spain.
This picture shows people who think that abortion should stay legal and in another case that abortion should be stopped. In this case, this starts protests which gets the government involved as they have to chose which side they must take and make pros and cons for each to decide what is best for the nation, and better off, best for themselves. This causes days sometimes weeks and months of protest until the decision is made about what the new law will be and what the rules for consequences and disobeying the law will be.
Negative: The negatives of the social / cultural issues are that if the government start to lose money and the banks start to get into recession, the government will not be able to pay the governmental fees and this will then not help the economy, as they help poor citizens with paying the fees of some of the help applications listed above. Also if the government doesn't do anything about AIDS or alcoholism or even hunger, their economy will suffer big time and therefore, other countries may not want to help Spain out as they dont want to put their nation status at a low rate of the world ratings.
Positive: The positives will be that,a ll the less fortunate people will be helped out, probably without having to pay the money back, and this helps them with their health, education, and jobs. They will benefit form having such a powerful government to help them when they are in desperate need. Spain has had its good and bad times, but in my opinion, i think that the good has outlasted the bad in our world today and that the economy is growing to be a better place, if the government can work well with the citizens. And it makes life easier for both ways, as the people of Spain dont have to worry so much about all the costly payments and the government doesn't have to worry about their economy status dropping because of a small incident that they can fix themselves.
